Actress Kerry Washington wore custom SIMKHAI to the 2025 Met Gala. The look featured a bespoke SIMKHAI jacket and skirt, styled with a custom hat from Binata Millinery. Kerry attended with SIMKHAI’s Creative Director Jonathan Simkhai, who wore a custom SIMKHAI men’s look.

Kerry’s look featured a deconstructed tailored jacket, and a tea-length sheer tulle skirt that showcased the craftsmanship of the SIMKHAI studio, and blended innovative modern techniques with a timeless silhouette. In reference to the Met Gala exhibition theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, the jacket was constructed by hand using traditional menswear tailoring techniques. Realized in an ivory twill with a satin lapel, the blazer featured a plunging front and a cutaway back. Sculpted with an accentuated hip to create an hourglass shape, the jacket is a testament to the craftsmanship used to create it.

The jacket was combined with a skirt in an a-line silhouette and tea-length hem. The tulle skirt was made from a sheer mesh voille, with a construction that created a soft-yet-structured silhouette. The deconstructed style of the skirt evoked that of a crinoline. It highlighted traditional atelier techniques that usually stay hidden, including horse hair in the hem which created and held the skirt’s shape. The look was finished with a custom ivory felt hat crafted by hand, with a satin ribbon trim by Binata Millinery’s Creative Director Rowell Concepcion. A nod to the dandy movement, the hat was hand-dyed to match the pantone of the Simkhai look.

SIMKHAI’s Creative Director Jonathan Simkhai wore a custom SIMKHAI men’s look. The bespoke tailored suit was crafted in buttercream and ivory British wool. The buttercream jacket was double-breasted with peak lapels and a cummerbund wrap closure, and was worn with ivory slim-cut flat front pants. The look was finished with a silk Simkhai logo pocket square.
